Huret Success - 28.6 mm clamp-on mount - stylized "Huret" logo on facing of the hinged clamp - light aluminum alloy construction - Black anodized finish - chrome plated steel cage having Black foil badge with stylized "Huret" logo in Gold and a series of four open windows on its outer facing - rear offset cage without Spring Push Plate (SPP) system - pre 1978 model year non C.P.S.C. compliant open leading edge style cage - model 975 ... [A period correct component of my choosing that features a lightweight cage design borrowed from the Huret Jubilee which has then been relocated further aft in a noticeably offset manner and mated with the advanced rigid parallelogram mechanism first seen on the Huret Challenger II - a resultantly unique combination that enables extremely quick and precise front gear changes across a broad range of chain ring sizes. The original Huret Success front derailleur that debuted late in the preceding calendar year for model year 1976 and as selected for use on this bike is truly a not oft seen bit of cycling kit inasmuch as it was only produced in this particular configuration for a little over a year and a half before being superseded by a C.P.S.C. compliant version having an instantly identifiable forward "hood". And while its successor with the innovative SPP system may be an even better choice for use with wide range doubles or triple cranksets, the ultra rare first edition Success front derailleur is not only more elegant in its appearance, it is also both lighter and faster shifting with respect to those ratios typically found in racing type applications such as the very ones in which this vintage pocket racer would likely have participated where the total tooth count difference between the large and small chain rings does not exceed the number twelve. As for original equipment, a typical Graftek G-1 sold as a "complete" bike would have had a Campagnolo Record model 1052/1 front mount derailleur.]
