A publicity card from 1972 showing Peugeot-BP-Michelin team rider Jean-Pierre Danguillaume. Unlike cards dating from other years, official 1972 and 1973 editions for Peugeot-BP-Michelin team riders do not necessarily feature a contemporary photograph, but rather, the pictures themselves in at least some instances actually predate their calendar year of issue.]]>

A publicity card from 1975 showing Peugeot-BP-Michelin team rider Jean-Pierre Danguillaume. And while this publicity card officially dates from 1975, in fact, the details of the Peugeot PY-10 bicycle seen here are consistent with specifications used from May of 1974 through only the earliest months of calendar year 1975. The all new PY-10 model had made its public debut at the Grand Prix du Midi-Libri held in May of 1974. Although it retained a chrome finish along its rear stays and lower front fork in common with its predecessor the venerable PX-10, the earliest of these new bikes were painted in a hue of metallic silver and typically equipped with a full complement of distinctively colored components including a gold anodized Simplex SLJ AV 326 front derailleur, a gold anodized Simplex SLJ AR 615 rear derailleur, gold anodized Simplex SLJ retro-friction shifters, gold anodized MAFAC Competition calipers with wheel guides, and gold anodized MAFAC 318 brake levers having black colored rubber full hoods, large style "pancake" adjusters, and solid aluminum blades (...i.e. the non "drillium" version).

Jean-Pierre Danguillaume’s 1973 season included his winning the prestigious Critérium National two day stage race. Danguillaume would prove to be the first in a succession of three consecutive Peugeot-BP-Michelin team members to prevail in this event, being followed by Bernard Thevenet in 1974 and Jacques Esclassan in 1975.]]>

Following a decade where Peugeot-BP-Michelin team riders employed PX-10 bicycles having an iconic black and white chequerboard motif, the Grand Prix du Midi-Libri held in May of 1974 saw the competitive debut of Peugeot’s all new PY-10 model of designated racing bicycle. And as would be most befitting such an occasion, Jean-Pierre Danguillaume seen pictured here actually brought home a win for Peugeot-BP-Michelin the very first time out.  While the PY-10 retained a chrome finish along its rear stays and lower front fork in common with its predecessor the venerable PX-10, the earliest of these new bikes were painted in a hue of metallic silver and typically equipped with a full complement of distinctively colored components including a gold anodized Simplex SLJ AV 326 front derailleur, a gold anodized Simplex SLJ AR 615 rear derailleur, gold anodized Simplex SLJ retro-friction shifters, gold anodized MAFAC Competition calipers with wheel guides, and gold anodized MAFAC 318 brake levers having black colored rubber full hoods, large style "pancake" adjusters, and solid aluminum blades (...i.e. the non "drillium" version).]]>

During the 1973 Tour de France, Jean-Pierre Danguillaume would cross the finish line first in stage 6 (Belfort - Divonne-les-Bains), and finish third in stage 9 (Embrun - Nice), on the way to placing twenty-second overall in that year’s Tour. Danguillaume is seen here riding in stage 15 (Pau - Fleurance) aside Francisco Galdos (KAS) and just ahead of Wilfried David (Flandria-Shimano-Carpenter, who would ultimately prevail as stage winner).]]>
